The F.A.S.T. method is a straightforward and effective way to recognize the signs of a stroke. F.A.S.T. stands for Face, Arms, Speech, and Time, each representing a key symptom to observe.
- “Face” involves checking if one side of the person’s face droops or if they have difficulty smiling.
- “Arms” refers to observing if the person can raise both arms without one arm drifting downwards.
- “Speech” is about assessing if their speech is slurred or sounds strange.
- “Time” emphasizes the importance of quick action. If any of these symptoms are present, it’s crucial to call emergency services immediately, as timely medical intervention can significantly improve the outcome for someone experiencing a stroke.
