About Us

Our Club President | Randy Kratochvil

The Rotary Club of Kearney Dawn was chartered on October 3, 1995, and our club has the distinction of being one named District 5630 “Rotary Club of the Year” in 2012, 2013, and again in 2016.  Kearney Dawn Rotary has had five District Governors from our membership (Karl Borden 1998-1999), (Don Peterson 2015-16) and (Scott McLaughlin 2019-20). Additionally, James W. Biehl (Lexington 1990-91) and Larry Carstenson (1983-1984 Aurora, NE D5650) are both Past District Governors.  Kearney Dawn Rotary is the home club for Kearney’s Cranes on Parade and Kearney’s Dancing with the Stars.  Additionally, Kearney Dawn Rotary has had six “Rotarians of the Year” honorees, first in 2003, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016, and most recently 2022! Our club is part of Rotary District 5630, including Central and Western Nebraska, west of Nebraska Highway 281. There are 29 clubs within our District, with approximately 1000 members.

Not the largest club in the district, but without question Kearney Dawn Rotary Club is one of the most active in the District. Our diverse membership is a cross-section of our community leadership including men, women, and young professionals. Our commitment to “Service Above Self” is manifested daily by our members through a range of committees, each focusing on Rotary’s avenues of service. While our members and immediate community are an important part of the club’s focus, our sense of community extends to the world-at-large through our international service projects as Rotarians “Making a Difference.”

McKenna O'Rourke
Membership

"My favorite thing about Rotary is that it's an efficient use of my time. All at once, I'm creating new friendships, making new business contacts, learning how my community works, and participating in the world."

Membership in the club provides opportunities for both fellowship and community service.

We Meet

COVID-19 changed our world, forcing us to meet virtually over Zoom. Post COVID, we are happy to be back together in person. We meet most Wednesday mornings at CCC at 7:00 am. You are always invited to join us in person, but if that doesn't work you can still join us via ZOOM, send us a message and we can share the ZOOM link.

What is Rotary?

Rotary brings together our community leaders from all continents, cultures, and occupations to share their ideas for making the world a better place. By combining their distinct skills and expertise, Rotary members are tackling some of the world's most pressing problems – from local initiatives like feeding the hungry to global efforts like eradicating polio.

Our Club

The Kearney Dawn Rotary Club is vibrant and active.  We believe in not letting grass grow under our feet.  First and foremost we are a “SERVICE” club.  “Service Above Self”, is the Rotary creed and every member takes that motto to heart.  If you are ready to serve, and want to be involved, Kearney Dawn Rotary will welcome your membership, Rotary: Making a Difference!
