The Gardens at Yanney Heritage Park | Pavilion Tour

FIELD TRIP!  Planned is a trip to the ongoing project at The Gardens at Yanney Park.  We will be touring the NEW pavilion building nearing completion as well as experience the continued growth of the gardens amid future plans.  Take advantage of showcasing Kearney and Kearney Dawn Rotary. Bring a friend!

The Yanney Heritage Park Foundation is continuing the legacy of a strong public/private partnership with the City of Kearney, area schools, community organizations, and the public through the construction of seven botanical gardens at Yanney Heritage Park in Kearney, Nebraska. The project is called “The Gardens at Yanney Park.”  Once completed, these gardens will showcase the relationships and value of plants and plant groups to people and our environment.

The Gardens at Yanney Park will be completed in three phases.  Phase I will consist of the Native Nebraska, Pollinators, and Lilac & Hydrangea gardens along with complementing trails and public art. This first phase was completed in October 2021.  Phase II will add four remaining gardens: Annuals, Rose, Xeriscape, and Edibles, along with the Center Courtyard and a reflecting pond. The second phase was completed in October 2022. Phase III is underway now, with a pavilion, gazebo, trailhead and parking lot, and on schedule to be completed by late 2023.
