Thank You Kearney

The 2023-2024 school year Dictionary Project is in the books!

This heartwarming tradition always brings our club and community together. The Kearney Dawn Rotary Club’s Dictionary Distribution Project was in full swing this week, with 698 dictionaries, targeted to reach 33 classrooms across 18 Buffalo County schools.

This year was made even more sweet with a recent financial boost received. On December 7, during a single day of giving hosted on GiveWhereYouLive.net, the Kearney Dawn Rotary Club received donations totaling $807 for tha annual project.

Over five days, the Rotary members totaled over 80 volunteer hours, visiting classrooms, handing out dictionaries to excited students. But it wasn’t just about distributing books; it was about fostering a love for learning and emphasizing the importance of literacy. Thanks to the dedication of the Rotary Club members and the support of their generous community through GiveWhereYouLive.net, Kearney Dawn continued to shine as a beacon of education and community spirit.

Over the past 19 years, including the 698 books distributed this year, a total of 11,258 books have been presented to 3rd grade students.  Stacked they would reach over 1400 feet.  Our first class of 3rd graders may have their own children among the class of students this year.
